General

Many artists and speakers use a wireless microphone system. Small wonder, as it gives you tremendous freedom of movement. The concept is simple: a microphone is connected by means of a short cable to a beltpack system, which wirelessly transmits a signal to a receiver. However, what happens when your wireless signal is interrupted right in the middle of a recording? And what if you want to keep a recording of your speech, but the engineer who operates the receiver is too busy to make one for you? Fortunately, all of these issues are easily taken care of by means of Tascam's DR-10CS recorder for beltpack systems (Sennheiser).

Characteristics of the Tascam DR-10CS recorder for beltpack system (Sennheiser)

The Tascam DR-10CS is an audio recorder that can be placed between your Sennheiser microphone and your beltpack transmitter. The signal is initially registered by the Tascam recorder, which records it to a micro SD/SDHC card, before it is transferred to the beltpack transmitter, which then sends it to the engineer at the other end of the venue. That means you always have your own recording to fall back on, even if something goes wrong on the receiver end. Just imagine saving the day at a special ceremony like a wedding - eternal gratitude is guaranteed!

Practical matters

At a resolution of 48 kHz/24 bits, the quality of your recordings is solid as a rock. A dual recording function makes a second recording at a lower sound level, so you always have a back-up track for your edits when the primary track turns out to be distorted. Thanks to a limited and a low-cut filter, a stable signal is ensured. The Tascam DR-10CS offers an impressive battery life of more than eight hours using a single AAA battery. If you're using more than one unit, you can use an infrared signal to share settings between the recorders. Once you start working with this compact device, you'll never want to be without it again!

Tascam DR-10CS recorder for beltpack system (Sennheiser)

Great for a reliable tiny recorder that you can easily hide on your talent. The audio quality is OK as long as you use a decent lav like a Sanken cos11. The menu is not very friendly useable but after some practice is becomes a bit easier to use.
