General

The Yamaha YMP-204MS Mellophone has been tuned in F and, in many respects, can be compared to a French horn. In fact, it can even take on the role of a French horn in various ensembles, including brass bands. The advantage that the mellophone has over the French horn is that the bell is forward-facing, meaning that the sound is easily projected in the right direction. The intonation of this instrument can be adjusted by the thumb hook and, for increased stability and resonance, the bell has been made from brass and fused to the body using a laser. The result is stunning tonality and comfortable balance.
