General
The sound of the DiMarzio DP 160BK Norton lies right in between the DiMarzio FRED and DiMarzio Tone Zone. This Alnico 5 pickup is designed to go beyond the tonal range and power of standard humbuckers without going over the top, resulting in heavily textured harmonic overtones. A solid partner for DiMarzio's Air Classic, PAF 36th Anniversary, PAF Pro, and Air Norton pickups, this humbucker delivers prominent low-mids and high-mids and, while it sounds 'hotter' and bigger than regular vintage-style humbuckers, you can't really call it a distortion-type humbucker.
