General
DiMarzio has deliberately gone in a different direction with the DP268F Dark Matter 2 Bridge pickup in collaboration with Steve Vai. This element was specially designed for the latest generation of Ibanez JEM guitars (Steve's signature line) where the focus is mainly on getting an organic sound out of the guitar. This bridge model has a modern sound, combining clarity and warmth - without becoming muddy or shrill. The pickup works well with hefty overdrive, and with cleans you get a nice sparkling tone. The element is only available in F-spaced configuration, so only suitable for guitars with a Floyd Rose or similar tremolo.
