General

The DiMarzio DP281 Rainmaker Neck was designed in collaboration with John Petrucci, in which he indicated he wanted to go in a more blues-like direction. Consequently, this Rainmaker pickup has a wider frequency range than most of the Dream Theater guitarist's signature models. The pickup has an interesting mix of warm highs and a fairly open-sounding midrange. The result is a fine, slightly overdriven sound that still holds up solidly at lower volume levels.
