General
The DiMarzio DP415 Area 58 single coil pickup is a worthy successor to the Virtual Vintage 2.1 pickup, with differences in performance here and there. For instance, the dynamic range is a lot wider and the string definition is much brighter. The Area 58 is based on a 1958 single coil with a unique bright and clean sound. However, this modern version makes the difference as it has less magnetic pull, and virtually no hum in the sound. The Area 58 is very sensitive to height adjustments: closer to the strings gives a fatter blues-like sound with slight compression, while further away can give sparkling clean sounds.
