Compared to the modern classic that is the EMG 81, the EMG 81X active humbucker brings improved response as well as even more headroom. The dynamic control has also been given a quality boost by the X Series preamp, all while the powerful ceramic magnet, steel poles and surgically accurate coils guarantee beautifully rounded tone that's packed with the trebles necessary to punch through the mix. While this EMG dual-coil has been calibrated for the bridge position, it can also be planted at the neck to make your overall output more robust and, for those moments when the higher frequencies could do with rolling back a bit, an active and noiseless VLPF tone control pot comes included. You're basically looking at a silent yet mega-deadly pickup that blends together all the best bits of an active and passive humbucker and, as a neat bonus, all of it can be wired in without the need for a soldering iron.
