Compared to the modern classic that is the EMG 85, the EMG 85X active humbucker brings improved response as well as even more headroom. The dynamic control has also been given a quality boost by the X Series preamp, resulting in the organic and open sound that's spooned out by every X Series pickup. The Alnico V magnetic core combines with the surgically accurate coils to support potent and versatile amplified guitar sound that ranges everything from a fierce growl to round solo-worth tones, supporting it all - from classic blues to solid metal. While this dual-coil is usually mounted at the neck, it can also be planted at the bridge for added warmth and nuance and, for those moments when the higher frequencies could do with rolling back a bit, an active and noiseless VLPF tone control pot comes included. You're basically looking at a silent yet effective pickup that will easily serve any setup and, as a neat bonus, all of it can be wired in without the need for a soldering iron.
