General

EMG's AB or Afterburner is now very well known in guitar land. In case you don't know it yet: it is a variable boost in the form of an active push/pull potentiometer. With the Afterburner, you add up to 20 dB of gain to your signal. So you can make your cleans sound louder or overdrive an already overdriven amp even harder.

Afterburner: versatile boost for everyone

AB works with both passive and active elements. Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom), for example, uses the Afterburner in combination with a passive EMG HZ. By the way, this active boost comes with output jack and battery clip included. Whatever your genre, if you are looking to boost your guitar sound, the EMG AB (Afterburner) is a great option!
