General

The EMG SPC (Strat Presence Control) is also called "fat control". This is because it lets you boost the midrange and volume. So you can make a single-coil sound like a humbucker. This effect is achieved by boosting the gain in the wide mid frequencies and reducing the trebles as you turn the knob further open. You can also use the EMG SPC in combination with a humbucker to boost overall volume and midrange. This gives you an extra thick sound, which is excellent for slide guitar or face-melting solos, for example.
