General

The SH-4 JB has been setting the standard for high-output humbuckers for over 35 years. This pickup was named after Jeff Beck, for whom it was originally designed, and produces the classic hot-rodded sound. The SH-4 produces high output while retaining clear, sparkling trebles. Additionally, it adds the right amount of trebles, sustain and distortion to the sound of your guitar. It easily goes from warm, sweet bluesy tones to raw heavy metal.

Tone and use of the Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB

The Seymour Duncan JB is often recommended for a guitar's bridge position, and regularly combined with a vintage-output neck pickup, such as the SH-2n Jazz (like in the Hot Rodded set) or the SH-1 '59 humbucker for those classic P.A.F. sounds. Compared to the SH-14 Custom 5, the SH-4 JB offers a more powerful treble response. To keep the trebles in check, guitarists often employ a 250K potentiometer. The SH-4 is best used for warm-sounding guitars.
