In the 1970s, the Celestion Classic Lead was a revolutionary speaker because of its fibreglass voice coil. This is because this material can withstand higher temperatures, allowing this speaker to handle a load of up to 80 watts. Of course, for a guitarist, it can never be loud enough!

Classic Lead 80: suitable for both distortions and cleans

Today, the Celestion Classic Lead is very popular with solo guitarists, due to its fast response and articulate, punchy sound. This speaker produces a clear and defined guitar sound, even with a large amount of distortion. But the Classic Lead 80 also sounds great with cleans. Here it delivers that same articulation combined with plenty of headroom, for smooth and highly dynamic performance.

Excellent in combination with other Celestion speakers

The Classic Lead is a clear and neutral-sounding 12-inch guitar speaker, with tight bass and very defined mids and trebles. This speaker is often combined with Greenbacks or Vintage 30s, for those coveted half clean / half crunchy tones.

This copy of the Celestion Classic Lead 80 has an impedance of 16 Ohms, but an 8 Ohm version is also available. So when ordering, pay close attention to which one you need.
