Ask those who use a vintage Marshall amplifier what their favourite speaker is and they'll probably tell you its the Celestion G12M Greenback. This 12-inch speaker - with its characteristic green magnet cover - has literally set the tone for rock and roll in since sixties. Does the name Jimi Hendrix ring a bell? The Greenback G12M has a capacity of 25 watts and is characterised by full, controlled bass, warm mids, and detailed trebles. It is the perfect speaker for 4x12 vintage crunch sounds.

The Celestion G12M Greenback was used in most Marshall speaker cabinets from 1966 onwards, whether they were 1x12 combos or 4x12 stacks. The sound of the G12M with its ceramic magnet is full of mid-range crunch combined with a wonderful compression when you push the speaker to the brink. It is a different sound entirely compared to the Alnico speakers used by Marshall and Vox back in the day.
