General
The Celestion G12M-65 Creamback 12-inch 65W 8-ohm is an impressive speaker that is much like the legendary G12M Greenback. The G12M, however, is a modern speaker and as such a perfect match for today's bigger amplifiers. The thing that remains, though, is its irresistible vintage tonal character. This modern version of the classic gives you a proper dose of low frequencies, warm mids, a crunchy mid-treble range and a defined treble summit.
No rookie
The Creamback, like we mentioned, is based on a much older product. The original GM12 Greenback is a renowned ceramic magnetic guitar speaker that was designed half-way through the sixties. Its popularity and quality were emphasised by several of its famous fans: Jimmy Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. These renowned guitar virtuosos were impressed with the distinct sound that fit their louder, more aggressive blues.

Te gekke speaker! Minder heftig mid dan een greenback en minder harsh dan een V30. Voor mij de ideale combi. Het laag is diep en mooi strak, en het hoog doet nooit pijn aan je oren. De speaker werkt naar mijn idee het beste in een open back configuratie en werkt zowel goed met cleane als overdrive sounds.

Zoals een goede pick-up element zeer bepalend is voor de sound van een elektrische gitaar,
zo is een speaker ook belangrijk voor de sound van een gitaar versterker.
Deze Celestion is een aanrader voor het verbeteren van die sound.
Ik heb na meerdere aanbevelingen deze speaker in mijn Fender Mustang III geplaatst en kan alleen maar toegeven dat dit een goede modificatie is gebleken.

Voor wie de V30 te hard/scherp vindt, de standaard greenback wat te "dof" en de G12M-65 te dik, dan is dit de ideale speaker! Hij klinkt mooi rond en ook warm, maar prikt live (in een band) toch goed genoeg door de mix. Ideaal voor clean werk, maar blues en rock kan ook. Voor hardrock zal ik toch naar de V30 verwijzen. Ik gebruik hem voor in mijn discobandje als gitarist!

De speaker klinkt zalig in combinatie met mijn andere celspion lead ( samen in een 2 x 12 cabinet ) aangestuurd door mijn lanen amp , top !!

Fijne allround speaker die recht uit de doos al goed klinkt en er dan alleen maar beter op wordt. Genoeg mids en punch in de mix, maar niet overdreven. Blendt dankzij dezelfde efficiëntie van 97dB ook goed met de G12-65 Heritage, die qua timbre in verhouding neutraler is en wat directer qua aanspraak (uitstekend voor akoestische gitaar, mooi tophoog). De Creamback is prijs-kwaliteit top, wat mij betreft, en mijn nieuwe go-to voor elektrisch werk. Ik speel op Fender strats, over een H&K Triamp Mk I 2x12 combo of Tubemeister 5 topje met losse 1x12 cabinets.

Amateurs de son vintage, c'est LE haut parleur qu'il vous faut!
Monté dans un vieux Hot Rod dont la gamelle d'origine montrait à la fois des signes de faiblesse et ne restituait vraiment plus le son de mon rig, j'ai opté pour ce HP qui est vraiment incroyable. La courbe de réponse dans les médiums est incroyable: les basses sont présentes et profondes sans être envahissantes, les médiums sont riches, chaleureux (merci l'aimant cêramique!!), les aïgues sont nettes, sans bavure et peuvent être aggressives à souhait avec une Tele et une fuzz à l'ancienne.
Vraiment, une très très très bonne gamelle !
