Without going too deep into the tech-side of things, this headphone amp has been equipped with the components needed to bring distortion down to an absolute minimum, leaving you with what it's all about: pure, natural sound.
The Phonitor Matrix: A Revolutionary Audio Experience
The Phonitor Matrix is a brilliant development that allows producers to wear headphones and mix tracks the way they would using studio monitors. The crossfeed control dials in the amount of crosstalk between the left and right channel but can also be turned off. We recommend watching the videos included under the Videos tab to get a better idea of what the Phonitor Matrix can do and what it corrects compared to a traditional 'stereo' approach.
A Small Army of Outputs and Clean Power
The Phonitor One comes outfitted with two stereo outputs for hooking up gear like CD players, mixers, synths, DA-converters and tape-decks, which can be connected using (balanced) TRS jack or RCA cables. To finish, SPL have installed a 'clean', dependable power supply, marking the basis for uncoloured sound and the ultimate listening experience.

Recent heb ik mijn hoofdtelefoon geüpgraded naar de zeer transparant klinkende Beyerdynamic DT 1990 pro. Bij de luistertest was deze aangesloten op de Sennheiser HDV 820.
Omdat deze hoofdtelefoon een impedantie heeft van 250 ohm, trok de ingebouwde hoofdtelefoonaansluting van mijn pre-amp het niet. De helderheid van de showroom kreeg ik thuis niet.
Bij de zoektocht naar een hoofdtelefoonversterker werd ik 'gek' van allerlei apparaten die uitblinken in features en aansluitingen. Allemaal dubbelingen met componenten die ik al in mijn hifi opzet heb.
Het mooie van de Phonitor One, is dat het een (1) ding doet: analoog in, analoog uit. Al het geld van de build zit in die functie. Geen 'verspeeld' geld aan een DAC circuit (heb ik al). Geen geld aan overbodig aansluitingen. Een ding doen, en dat goed doen.
Mijn Beyerdynamic DT 1990 pro klinkt waanzinnig op de Phonitor One. Beter dan de HDV 820? Hij doet er zeker niet voor onder en is slechts een kwart van de prijs.
Mooi extra is de matrix functie. Een transparante hoofdtelefoon en hoofdtelefoonversterker is prachtig, maar ook 'bruut' voor slechte opnames. Je herkent vrij snel goede & slechte audiotechnici. Met de matrix functie kan je via de koptelefoon een geluidsbeeld creëren dat meer lijkt op een weergave door luidsprekers.

De SPL Phonitor One heb ik online gekocht. De website van Bax is erg overzichtelijk en de voorwaarden staan er duidelijk en eerlijk op. Dat was de reden om via deze website te bestellen. De afhandeling van mijn bestelling verliep keurig. Ik waardeer de snelle en eerlijke communicatie van Bax. Mijn bestelling liep 1 dag vertraging op. Hiervan werd ik direct via de mail op de hoogte gesteld (op een zeer correcte wijze).
Toen ik de SPL Phonitor One had aangesloten op mijn installatie en lekker via de hoofdtelefoon naar muziek ging luisteren, had ik direct door dat dit een goede koop was. Ik had meteen meer “headspace” , alles klonk ruimtelijker. Het is een plezier om via de SPL naar muziek te luisteren.
Kortom: zowel over Bax als met de SPL ben ik zeer tevreden.
Toen ik de SPL Phonitor One had aangesloten op mijn installatie en lekker via de hoofdtelefoon naar muziek ging luisteren, had ik direct door dat dit een goede koop was. Ik had meteen meer “headspace” , alles klonk ruimtelijker. Het is een plezier om via de SPL naar muziek te luisteren.
Kortom: zowel over Bax als met de SPL ben ik zeer tevreden.
