Product information

General

Warm, butter soft, musical, washy, full-bodied - these are all descriptions that fit this 14-inch hihat well. This hihat is entirely based on the original Istanbul hihat used by Mel Lewis. Lewis was the first drummer to get an endorsement from Istanbul Agop. After his death in 1990, Istanbul recovered the cymbals used by Lewis. To honour him, the cymbals were re-released as the 'Mel Lewis Signature Series'. Every dent, every scratch that the original cymbals had suffered during the many tours was measured. Fully hand-hammered, these cymbals are insanely close to the original hihat cymbals used by Mel Lewis.
