Two things happened in the 1980s that ended the power of analogue synths. First, Yamaha's DX7; finally new sounds, although they were mostly presets since nobody wanted to programme that thing. The other event was sample-based synthesis becoming affordable. The Korg M-1 and the Roland D-50 are models that became very famous for this. It's about the latter that this product is about. In the Roland Cloud, you will find various virtual synthesisers, including this D-50. In terms of looks a feast of recognition, and the sound is simply the D-50, as it was, and as it still is. You could hear the D-50 in many music productions made in the late 1980s. You could even argue that the later JV models are parameter developments of the D-50. There are other software makers that have made a D50 lookalike, but this one in the Roland Cloud is the only official one. So if you're looking for an authentic D50 for your DAW, as a VST, AU or AAX, this is the one and only!
