Ketron Event 61 Entertainer Keyboard

A while back, the world was introduced to the Ketron Event, a true contender of a model that far outstripped the instruments in its class. Ketron has been around for a while, having built a reputation in the '90s for developing European sounds and styles, which was a big departure from the models coming out of Japan at the time. Now, we come to the Event 61: a slightly more trim keyboard (the original Event has 71 keys), but still a 61-note whopper that resets the keyboard standard.

The Ketron Event: The Sound

We could just tell you how impressive the sound is, but all of that is already made glaringly obvious when you start counting the gigabytes of capacity. 240 gigabytes of space is supplied, 80 gigabytes of which is taken up by the system, leaving a good 160 gigs left over for a mass of sounds. Besides your standards, you also get a mountain of phrases, including played riffs and loops, all with a far more realistic feel that you could get with any standard samples.

Other Features

This is one hefty instrument, so it comes loaded with a set of 61 semi-weighted keys that provide a wide and roomy playing experience. The large touchscreen display grants quick and intuitive menu access and a full army of buttons and faders populate the control panel, so in that sense, this model is still a traditional keyboard - you can even plug in a microphone and take advantage of the set of integrated vocal effects. Basically, it's near-impossible to list the scope of this instrument in just a few paragraphs, but we'll do our best: wireless connection via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth; a built-in media player; an HDMI port so lyrics can be displayed on an external screen; the ability to build your own custom styles; and, of course, plenty more. Basically, if you're a professional and uncompromising performer and need an instrument that's going to match both your skills and ambitions, then the Event is most definitely it.
