A condenser microphone with a triple personality: the AKG Perception P420. This refined piece of microphone technology is contained in a solid metal housing. The large-diaphragm microphone can be perfectly fine-tuned, depending on the recording situation, the instrument or vocal character. Delivery includes a rugged carrying case and the AKG SH100 Spider shockmount. It guarantees clear recordings, without annoying handling noise. AKG P420: switchable pickup patterns

The reason why you might prefer the P420 over the P220, is that it offers the freedom to choose one of three pickup patterns. It's like you've got your hands on three microphones at once! You can choose between cardioid (all-round), omnidirectional (for the most extensive range) and figure-8. With the latter, you can create specific microphone setups, like a 'Blumlein' stereo pair. The pictured characteristics per pattern give insight in how this P420 sounds in different settings.

Low-cut and attenuation pad

Besides the switchable pickup patterns, the P420 is equipped with a switchable low-cut. It runs downwards from 300 Hz, with a steepness of 12 dB/oct. This is an effective way of filtering out excessive bass frequencies or annoying handling noise from the recording (with the help of the accessory shockmount). The -20 dB pad allows you to vary the maximum SPL between 135 and 155 dB SPL. The wide frequency response of the high-quality diaphragm guarantees a natural sound. Its metal chassis ensures that this condenser microphone will be with you for years to come.
