The Neumann M 50 V Set is no ordinary microphone, but a reintroduction of an icon. Originally launched in 1951, the M 50 grew to become the reference for orchestral recordings and the famous Decca Tree setup. Now Neumann is rebuilding this legendary design, respecting the original and making subtle improvements for today's studios. The omnidirectional design gives you the freedom to adjust the directional characteristic with the included transformer. Each M 50 V is hand-built in Germany.

A faithful improvement on the original

The unique design with a small capsule in a 40 mm sphere creates a remarkably spacious and natural soundstage. In the low end, the microphone behaves completely omnidirectional, while in the high end it gradually gains direction. This provides impressive focus and placement in stereo and immersive set-ups. A true pressure transducer (pressure microphone), the low end runs deep without proximity effects, with fast and highly precise transient reproduction thanks to the titanium K 33 Ti capsule. The classic transformer tube circuit remains true to the last, original version. But the new one features an even quieter subminiature tube. In the process, the electronics have been modified to be more resistant to modern interference from wifi and smartphones, so that the signal remains clean and flexible even in today's studio environments.

A complete package for high-end recording

The M 50 V is ideally suited as a main microphone in high-end classical productions and Decca Tree configurations, but feels equally at home over a grand piano, as a spot mic in an orchestra or as a high-quality room microphone. The included NM V power supply automatically adjusts to mains voltage and tube type, and can also be used with historical M 50 models. Together with the updated 'yoke' mount with mechanical decoupling, long cable and sturdy case, the Neumann M 50 V forms a complete system for professionals who want the original, but better!
