The U 87 by Neumann was introduced half a century ago and is known to be one of the most popular studio microphones of all time. The in-your-face vocal recordings we hear in modern-day recordings are thanks to this legendary microphone. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of this high-quality piece of studio equipment, Neumann have released a special limited-edition model with a rhodium finish. There are only 500 of these editions available world-wide! It comes with a shock mount, a framed certificate of authenticity and a pair of gloves, complete in a classy aluminium hard case.

Features of the U 87

Using the switch on the front, you can choose between three different directional characteristics, namely: cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8. For loud audio sources such as electric guitar amplifiers and drums, the U87 features a -10 dB attenuator to ensure your recordings are free of distortion and clipping. Finally, you can prevent proximity effect and other unwanted noise in the low frequencies with the built-in high-pass filter.
