General

The Rode NT1 A is a high-quality condenser microphone with a low signal/noise ratio. The two mics in this NT1A set are harmonised accurately to a half dB and feature a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, making them ideal for vocal recordings and recording acoustic instruments. This set is ideal for creating nice stereo recordings of choirs or drum overheads. The mics have an SPL of up to 137 dB and a signal/noise ratio of only 5 dB. Also, the microphones feature gold-plated XLR connectors.

The Rode NT1 A has become an industry standard thanks to its warm and clear sound and wide dynamic range. Thanks to a nickel housing and accessory shockmount and storage sleeve, you can store the mic in a dust-free manner.

Wrote the following about Rode NT1 A matched pair condenser studio microphone

Op basis van heel wat reviews had ik al een paar NT5 gekocht omdat die zo mooi strijkers zouden capteren, dat is inderdaad zo. De NT1 mag wel verkocht worden als de ideale stem-microfoon, ik kocht een paar om als overhead (3m hoog, 10m van het orgel, XY) een concert met strijkersensemble en kerkorgel op te nemen. De NT5's plaatste ik aB en redelijk dicht bij de strijkers op +-1,80m.
Conclusie: de NT1's nemen geweldig veel detail op, zonder aan helderheid in te boeten. Op 10m afstand hoor je de toetsen... De NT5's zijn bijna overbodig, hoewel ik vind dat ze net iets meer transparantie in het geluidsbeeld brengen. In een kerk heb je algauw teveel galm waardoor de klank iets te veel mengt.
En de klank dan? Mooi, waarheidsgetrouw. De strijkers klinken heerlijk en eerlijk, nergens iel of schel. Je hoort de snaren vibreren, vooral in de celli. Ook het orgel klinkt waarheidsgetrouw. Een beetje meer "fond" mag wel, maar die heb ik met een buizenmicrofoon van Studio Projects, is een persoonlijke voorkeur.
