General
The PM1X is a damper from Yamaha made for tubas. You can plug it into the horn of your instrument to mute the sound. If you have the STJ Personal Studio (sold separately), you can hear the sound directly back as you play, thanks to a built-in microphone. It's an ideal accessory if you want to be able to play more often, without distracting others with loud noise. A sliding bar allows you to adjust the position of the damper in the sound cup to improve the feel and pitch for you. When you take it out of your instrument again, you can slide the two halves together for more compact storage.
