Does Denon DJ's Engine Prime Set a New Standard for DJ Software?
It's safe to say we're pretty enthusiastic about Denon DJs Prime series here at Bax Music. That includes the powerful software behind the Prime series: Engine Prime. This music management program was specially developed for the SC5000, the X1800 and the VL12. Read on to find out more about what it can do.
Bringing order to chaos
First and foremost, Engine Prime is designed to help you efficiently organise your music library. Because Denon DJ developed the software from the ground up, they took a number of important things into consideration when creating it. The software works with Windows as well as Mac operating systems and it's possible to import playlists directly from iTunes. Fully analysed tracks from Serato can be imported one-by-one complete with hot cues, loops and everything else. Any new music that is added will be accurately analysed so that all of the information you need, including the BPM, the song's key (in traditional or Camelot style), beatgrid placement, artwork and all other metadata will be available for you.
Adjustments and compatibility
While Engine Prime works fantastically well, it's not infallible, which is why Denon DJ enables you to take care of the smallest details. That means you can adjust the beatgrid to the nearest millisecond, add a total of eight cues, make a total of eight loops, rename things and upload everything to an SD card or USB stick individually, in a playlist or a crate. Another great thing about Engine Prime is the fact that it supports almost every type of music file out there including FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, WAV, MP3, MP4/AAC, MP4 and OGG Vorbis. Thanks to the tri-coloured track waveform, it's easy to see exactly what's happening on each track.
DJ time!
It goes without saying that Engine Prime provides nearly everything you need to make DJing easier. When using the SC5000 Prime digital multimedia player, all of the information will be shown on the 7-inch touchscreen. You can use this to make any necessary adjustments quickly and intuitively. Take a look at the video below for further explanations.
Perhaps one of the most amazing things about Denon DJ's Engine Prime Music Analysis and Management software is that is can be downloaded for free directly from their website. If you're a Rekordbox user looking to make a change, be sure to check out Rekordbuddy that can convert your tracks to Serato.
