General
The Live X series speakers by Electro Voice are available in both active and passive versions. This ELX 112 is a passive two-way speaker with a 12-inch woofer and a 1.5-inch compression driver. This series of speakers has been designed for use on stage, as either a speaker or a monitor. All of the cabinets from the series are made of wood, which makes them lighter than comparable speakers and gives them a more full, warm sound. The ELX 112 can provide 250 Watts of continuous power and has a 1,000W peak capacity. A SpeakOn connector is available for connecting to an amplifier and for daisy-chaining a second ELX 112 speaker.
Finish
Despite the fact that the Live X is an extremely affordable series, the looks and performance of these speakers is anything but low-budget. The 15mm-thick wooden cabinet is finished with a hard black textured paint, and is equipped with a metal handle. The woofer and the compression drive are protected with a metal grille. With these features combined, the ELX 112 makes a solid, professional impression. Because all of this speaker's components have that great Electro Voice class, you can rest assured that you're getting a quality product.
Use
The ELX 112 can be used in a variety of setups. Singers, DJs and bands can make use of it as either a head speaker or as a monitor during shows. Since the ELX 112 is also very well suited for playing music, as well as for speech and vocals, cafes and theatres can use these speakers as part of a fixed installation, and can couple it with their own amplifier. The sound produced by these speakers can be characterised by its excellent clarity and rich bass tones. The Live X series consists of a number of speakers that have been designed to be combined with one another so, if you want to build your own configuration, you know ahead of time that each element will combine perfectly. Indeed, this is particularly convenient if want to expand your system or use the speakers for something completely different. De luidspreker is zeer robuust en van kwalitatieve materialen gemaakt. Eén kleine klacht bij deze luidspreker: ik zou aan beide kanten een handvat voorzien. Dit zou het veel makkelijker maken om deze op te tillen. Dit kleine minpuntje verandert echter uiteraard niets aan de goede geluidskwaliteit.

De prijs-kwaliteitverhouding is zeer goed van deze luidspreker. Verder zijn het hele nette speakers die een professionele uitstraling hebben, je kunt ze ook gemakkelijk vervoeren omdat de speakers lichtgewicht zijn. Ik gebruik ze zelf voor zowel monitor als FOH en durf er ook een bandje op te mixen.

Gekocht voor ondersteuning op een carnavals wagen.
Inmiddels 2 weken in huis en natuurlijk uitvoerig getest (de buren waren niet blij).
Ze gaan niet echt laag (buiten, maar binnen heb je er weinig last van), maar dat is ook niet wat wij er van vragen. Het mid en hoog daar in tegen zijn subliem.
Goed hard en zeer belangrijk een zuiver geluid.
Zowel full-range als top zijn ze uitermate goed en voor die prijs kon ik ze natuurlijk niet laten staan.
De plus en min
+ Speakon zit terug in de kast gewerkt zodat ze niet zomaar afbreken als er iets of
iemand tegen de kast aan komt.
+ Hard en zuiver geluid en zeker niet schel.
+ Stevige robuuste kast.
+ Prijs/kwaliteit.
De min
- Maar aan 1 zijde een handvat.
- Geen rubber voetjes op de schuine zijde voor de monitor positie. Hierdoor beschadigt hij wat sneller.
Dus een super top voor een super prijs. En uiteraard de snelle super levering van Bax.

Erg goed en helder geluid en gaan ook erg hard. gebruik ze wel in samenwerking met baskasten omdat ik dit toch een beetje mis, maar dit is geen probleem!
Toppen zijn zeker een aanrader!

Sure, there is always "better" but when you arrive at a certain level of quality, one should consider what will be the use of the speakers: monitor, size of the rooms you're performing in,etc...and here's when I arrive to my choice of the ELX-112
These speakers are perfect for small to medium rooms (250w rms). They are passive meaning that you need an separate amp to power them. I don't care carrying an extra amp as anyway, you'll need cables to hook your speakers and a 220v socket. Moreover, if something goes wrong with the amp (a loudspeaker can fall when placing it for exemple), it's easier to find an amp than to try to open and fix the speaker.
Now for the musical, these are very very good speakers. They really do what they are meant for: cover the full range. The sound is clear and after hours of continuous listening of various styles, my ears are not "tired" as they used to be with my former speakers. However, the basses are a little bit weak but this is normal: these are 12 inches loudspeakers. You can always add an extra boom bass if you want some more juice but this is not critical.

Mooi no-nonsens geluid. Wat je verwacht hoor je gewoon. Helder, strak, warm en realistisch.
Wij gebruiken ze als tops i.c.m. subs. daarom genoeg lage tonen. Gebruik je ze als full-range dan mag je een mooi strak geluid verwachten met niet heel veel laag er in maar voldoende voor algemeen gebruik.Voor stampwerk met veel laag is een sub wel aan te bevelen. Daarom gaan wij combineren met de ELX 118.
