General

Na de altsaxofoon is de tenorsaxofoon de meest voorkomende sax. Een tenor staat gestemd in Bb en leest in de G-sleutel. Hij klinkt een none (oktaaf + grote secunde) lager dan geschreven. De tenorsax herkent u aan de typische S-vormige zwanenhals, bovendien is hij groter dan de altsax en kleiner dan de baritonsax. Hij zit met een bereik van Ab2 tot E5 daarom ook tussen de alt en bariton in. Een andere sax, de rechte sopraansax staat precies een oktaaf hoger gestemd als de tenor. Tenorsaxofoons worden gebruikt in onder andere klassieke muziek (kamermuziek), militaire bands, fanfares, harmonieen, bigbands en jazzcombo's.

Dit instrument is zeker geschikt om uw eerste 'Coltrane-licks' op te leren spelen. Maar ook voor kamermuziek kunt u dit instrument prima gebruiken. De tenorsaxofoon is voorzien van een hoge F# klep, tegenwoordig gebruikelijk op de meeste saxofoons. Een verstelbare duimsteun zorgt er voor dat het instrument altijd prettig in uw handen ligt. De sax is afgewerkt met een dunne blanke laklaag. Stagg levert dit instrument inclusief mondstuk en softcase. Met deze tenorsaxofoon kunt u zeker jaren vooruit.
