General

Despite their unmistakable vintage mojo, original Gretsch hollow-bodies from the previous century leave a couple of things to be desired. Not all guitarists are equally fond of the vintage radius, the thin frets and the unpredictable bridge, for instance. If these concerns have always held you back from investing in a classic Gretsch, you'll be happy to hear about the Streamliner series. Take the G2420T Streamliner with its Flagstaff Sunset finish and Bigsby Licensed B60 vibrato unit, for instance, which features the same gorgeous looks and sound as a vintage instrument, but is much more pleasant to play. Its neck has a comfortable, thin U profile with a 12-inch radius and modern medium jumbo frets, and in order to ensure excellent tuning stability, the bridge's rosewood base has been secured to the guitar's top. Furthermore, this hollow-body Gretsch features two high-ouput Broad'Tron humbuckers that deliver tight bass tones, clear trebles and a pronounced mid range.

The G2420T: construction

The G2420's body is made of maple and its neck was fashioned from nato. While the maple ensures a clear, tight and focused core sound, a rosewood fretboard with 22 fret adds the necessary warmth. Two high-output Gretsch Broad'Tron humbuckers take care of your amplified signal, and parallel tone bars reinforce the guitar's top to reduce feedback. Unlike in the old days, when a bridge was simply kept in place by the pressure applied by the strings, the G2420T Streamliner has an Adjusto-Matic bridge with a secured rosewood base. The difference it makes is astonishing; you'll be able to go crazy with your Bigsby B6 vibrato unit without having to worry about dislodging the bridge. This Gretsch hollow-body guitar's luscious Flagstaff Sunset finish completes the picture.

Gretsch Streamliners: affordable. modern, timeless

If you don't want to spend a fortune on a Gretsch guitar, the Electromatic series used to be your only option. With its excellent price-to-quality ratio, that series made 'That Great Gretsch Sound' available for virtually any guitarist. With the Streamliners, however, Gretsch has introduced an alternative. Like the Electromatics, the Streamliners are reasonably priced guitars, but the modern twists in their design really set them apart. While the classic looks and sound of the instruments remain intact, the Streamliners are a little more comfortable to play. A number of popular after-market upgrades have also been incorporated into their design, such as the G2420T's secured bridge.

Gretsch G2420T Streamliner Flagstaff Sunset

Wrote the following about Gretsch G2420T Streamliner Flagstaff Sunset

Naturalmente consigliatissima!

Gretsch Introduces the Vintage Select and Player Editions

Friday 29 January 2016

Gretsch fans can roughly be divided into two groups. On the one hand you have the purists who think the specifications from the 1950s and 1960s - the Gretsch heydays - are beyond dispute. On the other hand, you have the more practically minded guitarists who like to make modifications to their instruments. Luckily, both camps are being catered to with Gretsch's new series: the Vintage Select Editions and the Players Editions. Go for a modern classic like the G6118T-SGR or travel back in time to 1962 with the Gretsch G6119T-62GE!
