General
The 'X' in the Emperor X Series stands for the fact that these drum heads are the most durable of Remo's entire assortment. While the Amabassador and Powerstroke series are remarkably robust, the Emperor series takes it even further. These drum heads have 2 free-floating plies of 10-mil (0.254mm) Mylar with a reverse black dot.
Properties of the BX-0114-10 Emperor X drum head:
The 5-mil (0.127mm) black dot ensures a consistent, focused sound. It makes sure no unnecessary resonance occurs and that the snare reacts well to your hits. A double layer of Mylar gives the Emperor X its deep, warm sound while the outer edge provides a sparkling mid range. The extreme durability of this drum head makes it ideal for heavier music like rock and metal.

Uitstekend! Naar lang te hebben getwijfeld tussen de Remo Powerstroke 3 coated (die ik hiervoor ook gebruikte) en deze Remo Emperor X Coated ben ik toch voor deze gegaan. Hier heb ik ook zeker geen spijt van! Past beter bij mijn stijl (pop/rock/metal) en de duurzaamheid is stukken beter naar mijn mening. De Emperor X Coated is 2 laags (10mil) terwijl de Powerstroke 3 Coated een enkel laags vel is. Het vel heeft een goede attack terwijl het geluid toch gecontroleerd is. Zoals gewoonlijk goede service van Bax.

Ondanks dat ik een Evans fan ben, maak ik soms wel eens een uitstapje. Dit vel is daar een voorbeeld van. Super solid en lekker vel. Middenhoog tot hoog op z'n best en voor een echte rocksnare.

Zeer goed vel. Mooi afgewerkt zoals altijd bij Remo. Klinkt heel goed. Ideaal voor pop/rock. Het vel heeft genoeg punch/attack en power maar heeft ook een lange sustain. Gaat ook nog eens lang mee. Deze vellen klinken ten opzichte van de (gewone Emperor) clear vellen wat 'warmer'. Aanrader!

Ik heb eerst met de leverancier gebeld over de eigenschappen van dit vel en kwam tot de conclusie dat dit wel eens een goed nieuwe optie kon zijn. Wij spelen wat hardere muziek maar ook de ghostnotes zouden beter uitkomen en het vel zou een droog geluid geven.
Na montage en stemmen en nastemmen, kan ik zeggen dat ik erg tevreden ben over het vel. Klinkt op mijn snare, een hybride Pearl free floater met berken 8"diepe Premier tomketel erg goed. Diep en toch fel. Goed advies en goede keuze! Aanrader.

Tijdje geleden de Emperor X aangeschaft ipv de gewone Emperor. Wat een verschil! De X klinkt nog dieper. Perfect voor de metal drummer. Nu nog even de duurzaamheid afwachten want dit vel nodigt uit om flink afgeranseld te worden :)
