These compact speakers are the latest incarnation of Avantone's original MixCubes, which were released in 2007. Their design harks back to the renowned Auratone 5C Sound Cube. Up to this day, Auratone's single-drive box has been a permanent fixture in audio studios the world over! This popularity is caused by its ability to let you hear a mix precisely as it will sound on consumer electronics like TVs or radios. You might think that the same is true of a lot of cheap speakers, but there are a number of reasons why this MixCube is head and shoulders above the competition. The frequency response is focused on the mid-range section - as the MixCube won't reproduce the highest trebles and lowest bass frequencies, you'll be able to get your mid range just right (and this is the range that is common to all speakers, as we are most sensitive to it). You will need to check the trebles and basses on a full-range speaker, of course, but if your mix sounds right on the MixCubes, it will do so on a whole range of lo-fi and hi-fi speaker systems!

It doesn’t stop there! A mere clone of the Sound Cube wouldn't do for Avantone - they wanted to create a better reference speaker. The Avantone Mix Cube features a better linear frequency response than its predecessor. Furthermore, the lack of bass in the Mix Cube ensures that audio isn't coloured by the space in which you are working. The Avantone MixCubes are essential for anyone who is serious about mix engineering.

• The recommended power lies between 50-200 watts of solid-stage power or 10-100 watts of tube power. We advise that you use a high-quality, studio-grade power amp. The metal binding posts at the rear of the speaker are fit for brass wires, spade lugs or single/double banana plugs. 12 - 16 AWG wires for a cable length above 2 metres.
• If you want to mount the Avantone MixCubes on stands or console bridges, you might want to keep them at ear height, and close to the user. As the MixCubes are magnetically shielded, you can position them near to a CRT video screen or TV. With the microphone stand mounting point, you can also try out creative positioning options in uncommon studio playback situations.
