So why does the Neumann KH 150 deserve a spot on your shortlist? Well, the KH 120 and KH 310 have already been on the radar for a few years already and both models boast the same renowned level of quality as any Neumann microphone, so what you're essentially getting in the form of the KH 150, is the Goldilocks region of near-fields.

Features of the Neumann KH 150

For a start, this monitor has been set up to take on an array of different projects and genres. The frequency response effortlessly stretches from 39Hz to 21kHz, and that's more than enough to accommodate straight-up thumping EDM as well as subtle to dramatic orchestral work. The audio imaging is as trustworthy as it gets, and since phase caused by crossover filters is always the devil that gets in the details and messes with your mid-range, this monitor features a DSP that's able to pinpoint phase issues and correct them to result in tight and near flawless reproduction. Basically, with this model, you'll be able to detect the details that you would otherwise miss when working with other monitors - a perk that has nothing to do with the frequency response, but everything to do with the phase.

The Razor-Sharp Performance of Acoustic Monitor Alignment

A welcome tweak in the studio monitor landscape is built-in calibration. If you plonk a high-end monitor in a sub-standard listening space, you're simply not going to get the best out of it. Of course, you can solve a lot of the issues with some acoustic treatment, but to compensate for less ideal acoustics, this Neumann offering features on-board Acoustic Monitor Alignment calibration to keep things as neutral as possible. Ok, so you might need to pick up the MA 1 measurement microphone (sold separately) to set it up - but the difference can be well worth it. And, even without the acoustic calibration tech, this studio monitor is nothing short of impressive.

Neumann KH 150 W Active Studio Monitor (Single Unit)

Unbelievably good. These are my endgame speakers. They go loud without strain. The sound is very correct and clear. It makes sense to use the digital inputs and I got rid of my standalone DAC and now have a completely digital single path. The sound is the best I've ever heard in my life.
