General
In addition to the Kross-61, Korg also offers a version of the Kross synthesizer with 88 piano keys. Apart from the number of keys, the Kross-88 is basically the same comprehensive synthesizer with 112 MB of sounds, sequencer and arpeggiator. What makes the Kross such an interesting instrument is its low weight, which makes it remarkably portable. As it can be powered by means of 6 AA batteries, you could play this Korg synth wherever you like.
The sound
The 88 keys of the Kross-88 are no unnecessary luxury, as the piano sounds are among the best features of the synthesizer. They have been borrowed from top-model Korg synths that are played by professional musicians on a daily basis. The grand piano, for instance, features accurately sampled decays that have been recorded at three different velocity levels. Naturally, the Kross also offers a range of other sounds - with sounds from the Korg SG-1D, Korg M1, strings, brass instruments, chimes, drums, synths and E-pianos at your disposal, you have quite a range to choose from.
Control and options
The Kross-88 is easy to operate: simply use the knobs to select a category and then the sound you desire. A 240x64-pixel LCD display provides you with a clear overview of your actions, and your favourite sounds and custom patches can be stored in a bank of 64. Five insert effect and two master effects add a professional, diverse touch to your music. Would you like to sing along? The Kross has a microphone input and if you select, for instance, the vocoder in the effect section, you're able to create amazing robot voices. An arpeggiator and a sequencer breathe life into your covers and compositions. It's even possible to record your productions to an SD card, so you can later make your own CDs with the help of your PC. This Korg Kross-88 is guaranteed to keep you pleasantly occupied for some time to come.
