General

Essentially a more deluxe version of the Wavestate MK2, the Korg Wavestate SE is a seriously potent synth that boasts a massive 120-voice polyphony and a bigger, 61-note keyboard complete with aftertouch. While the internal sound engine is similar to the engine built into the standard Wavestate MK2, the SE variant simply packs a few extra, ever-useful perks and even includes a matching case, making it a solid choice for touring musicians.

Wave Sequencing

The idea behind wave-sequencing - the same concept the original '80s Wavestation was based on - is basically playing back sample after sample where, in terms of variable parameters, you're handed control over the samples, the pitch, the duration and crossfading. Needless to say, the Wavestate offers way more functions and features than Korg's now-vintage Wavestation, including an extensive modulation matrix, simultaneous effects, and much more to ensure you're free to cook up fresh-and-unique sounds.

Who's the Korg Wavestate For?

While most synths put a slightly different spin on the same thing, the Korg Wavestate SE offers the kind of unique sound that can't be compared directly to other synthesizers. Sure, it's similar to super-expensive classics like the Korg Oasys and Korg Kronos, but if you're looking to stay within budget, the Wavestate is a brilliant little gem to sink your teeth into.
