General

The Jupiter Series has been around for a quite a while and saw its first surge of popularity back in the eighties. The latest member to the family is the Roland Jupiter-Xm, a compact synthesizer with hands full of hands-on potential for ambitious sound designers. Inside, you'll find the ZEN-Core sound generator also featured in the new Roland Fantom, which practically means you're backed by multiple sound engines, both virtual-analogue and sample-based ones. It's made up of five parts; four for the synths and one for the drums.

Roland Jupiter-Xm: So much more than meets the eye!

In spite of its compact design, the Jupiter-Xm has been outfitted with a large amount of control elements and is more capable than you might expect at first sight. Take the ADSR envelope, for instance. This synth's actually got three: one for pitch, one for filter and one for amp. The filter? Well, let's just say there are a whole lot more than just one inside. A single LFO? Nah-ah. Three. Don't be fooled, this is not just another synth. The ZEN-Core technology makes this Roland synth exceptionally future-proof and a huge effects section will keep your creative juices flowing for years to come. And let's not forget the fresh-out-of-the-oven I-Arpeggiator. This pattern arpeggiator can drive the Jupiter-Xm by itself if need be!

Wrote the following about Roland Jupiter-Xm synthesizer

Ik ben het volledig met Chris S. eens.
+ De bouwkwaliteit is uitstekend (beter dan mijn System-8)
+ De vele 'vintage' sound engines en de Zen core hebben werkelijk een subliem geluid! (ik heb zo'n 12 andere synths en dus genoeg vergelijkingsmateriaal)
+ Erg makkelijk om zelf scenes te maken
+ De I-Arp en sequencer zijn geweldig en zorgen voor de nodige creativiteit
+ 'Menu diving' valt inderdaad heel erg mee, eenmaal je weg gevonden raak je hem niet meer kwijt, lang leve de shift knop..
+ Ziet er gewoon goed uit!
+ Lekker compact, ik zet hem in de tuin, badkamer enz. enz. en ga er mee aan de slag
- Wellicht het aantal en de kleine toetsten maar dan moet je voor de Jupiter-X gaan...die is wel ruim 1000,- duurder...
- Deze synth kost je heel veel tijd!! omdat je niet kunt stoppen met spelen....

Whooww... wat een sound! Met 4 lagen dik, wat wil je nog meer? Compact dus zeer makkelijk mee te nemen en overal te gebruiken. De bouwkwaliteit is een 10 met een griffel, dat kan niet beter. Uitgerust met een fantastisch klavierbed. Op Youtube praten ze over "menu diving" vanwege het kleine display, maar eigenlijk valt dat best wel mee. Als je de shifttoets ingedrukt houdt en draait aan een potmeter springt hij daar meteen naartoe. Wil je een parameter opvragen houdt je exit ingedrukt en draai je aan de betreffende potmeter. Gewoon een SuperSytnh in klein formaat!
