General
The Ortega Mini/Travel Series RGLE18ACA is the perfect entry point for young musicians, as well as grown guitarists in need of a travel companion. This electro-acoustic guitarlele isn't much bigger than a concert ukulele and, since the recommended tuning is A-D-G-C-E-A, it's tuned just two-and-half-steps higher than the standard guitar tuning. As such, you can play the same chords, scales and melodies you're already used to. Also, the soundboard of this 1/8-size guitar is made of solid acacia, setting you up with wonderfully warm sound and looks to match.
Compact Yet Potent
Thanks to its modest dimensions, the Ortega RGLE18ACA is a great travel buddy as well as a solid practice tool. Equipped with a built-in pickup, preamp and tuner, this guitalele can be plugged into an acoustic amplifier using a standard jack cable. The sound can be dialled in with the help of volume and tone controls.

C'est un bel instrument esthétiquement parlant. Le son est lui un peu décevant tant que la guitalélé n'est pas branchée dans un ampli acoustique (pour ma part un Laney 30D). En revanche branchée et amplifiée, c'est autre chose et nettement plus intéressant. Le principal défaut de cette mini Ortega mis à part la qualité médiocre du son non amplifié, ce sont les cordes et le tirant très lâche, c'est très mou et changer les cordes n'y fera rien. Donc à utiliser uniquement avec un ampli si l'on ne vaut pas être déçu. La touche (manche) était extrêmement sèche à son arrivée, il vaut donc mieux prévoir de quoi la nourrir régulièrement pour éviter qu'elle ne s'abîme trop vite. L'accordeur intégré est bien pratique et la housse de transport est de qualité.
