The Shure GLXD2+ Digital Handheld Microphone Transmitter

The Shure GLXD2+ handheld transmitter guarantees superior wireless audio no matter where you are in the world and can be combined with a matching microphone for optimum sound. Outfitted with an integrated lithium-ion rechargeable battery that supports up to 12 hours of operation, this dual-band transmitter ensures excellent digital audio which, combined with automatic frequency management system, delivers ultra-consistent performance.

The Shure GLXD4R+ Half-Rack Digital Receiver

The Shure GLXD4R+ receiver is the rack-mountable version of the GLDX4+. This high-quality, digital dual-band receiver features an automatic frequency management system to support hiccup-free performance and has been equipped with an XLR microphone output and an instrument jack output so the mic signal can be directly routed to the mixer or audio interface. While the receiver can be mains powered, if there's no power socket nearby, it can just as easily run on the built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which offers up to twelve hours of use on a full charge and can be simply recharged via the fitted USB-C port.

The Shure Beta 87A Vocal Microphone Capsule

The handheld microphone transmitter included in this pack comes pre-fitted with a Shure Beta 87A vocal microphone capsule which is renowned for treating vocals with warmth and accuracy. The low-frequency roll-off of this model efficiently compensates for the proximity effect while the high gain and supercardioid polar pattern effectively ignores ambient noise, leaving clearly defined, focussed sound. The Beta 87A is also near-invulnerable to distortion and electro-magnetic noise and features an advanced internal shockmount that efficiently dampens handling noise and absorbs mechanical shocks.

Excellent system, which I bought to go alongside my Shure SLX UHF rig.

Service from Bax was great - they responded to my questions and delivery to the UK was fast and hassle-free.

Setting up the system was an absolute breeze - literally plug it in and power it on. It'll scan for a clear channel and then it's good to go.

I'm running this into a floor-based vocal processer (Voicelive 3 Extreme), and then into the FOH desk and it's reassuringly easy and fast to configure, and also seems rock solid - I've had no drop outs - even on a stage where 4 of the band were already using other digital wireless gear.

The mic I chose (Beta 87a) is a condenser, so it's a pretty hot signal - be ready for it! And it's got quite an accentuated top-end so you'll most likely want to EQ that. But it sounds killer! Pristine and highly detailed.

The receiver has a slot to charge the battery, which is a excellent feature - 15mins charge will get you more than an hour's usage.

If you're in the UK, Bax very kindly ship with an adapter so you can use it immediately. I have since replaced mine with a UK power supply, but it wasn't really necessary as the adapter Bax sent me was perfectly usable.

The beach ball was also a nice touch - my dog loves it! 😂
