General

The legendary sonic character of the much-sought-after SSL 4000E console from the '80s has been neatly packed up inside this single 500 Series module. Since the circuitry and key components of this compressor/limiter and expander/gate in one faithfully hark back to the same construction as the classic SL611E Series channel strip of yore, you'll find a genuine RMS converter in the side-chain, while the gain section stays true to form and has been separated using the same Class-A VCA chip as the original. The compressor section offers additional switches and a linear release in place of the more common logarithmic curve, amounting to a compressor with three distinct voices, each with its own unique musical character.
