The ADI-2 Pro is the next generation of AD/DA converters in the RME range. It can also be used as USB 2 DAC, USB 2 interface, or simply as a high-end headphone amplifier for redefined crystal-clear audio. Whether you want to use the ADI-2 Pro in the mastering process, or whether you're an audiophile who just wants to enjoy its top-notch sound quality, prepare yourself for something spectacular. The RME ADI-2 Pro interface can automatically detect the type of connection and which mode is appropriate, based on that connection. This function can also be de-activated, if preferred.
Options, options, and more options
When you want the very best in audio quality, and don't want to compromise on any front, then this converter should be your first choice. Flexibility and quality come first, and a long list of features make it an attractive device indeed. You can connect sources to the S/PDIF I/O that also understands ADAT protocol, for instance. Via a break-out cable, you can utilise the S/PDIF over RCA and AES I/O via XLR. Furthermore, this interface is equipped with two servo-balanced analogue inputs, accessible by means of a combined XLR/TRS jack input. And finally, it features two separate balanced and unbalanced outputs via XLR and TRS, and two stereo high-impedance headphone outputs, making it a high-quality headphone amplifier as well.

The ADI-2 Pro is capable of making your recordings sound more lively and natural than ever before! Its integrated sample rate converter solves any clocking issues between S/PDIF and AES before they even start thanks to its SteadyClock III technology. With a maximum sample rate of a whopping 768 kHz, we're talking about the cream of the crop of AD/DA conversion! A unique feature of this device is the possibility of using a 5-band parametric equalizer and to adjust low and high frequencies wherever you deem necessary. You can even activate a binaural crossfeed function and there's an adjustable loudness filter, selectable AD/DA filters, and four analogue reference levels too. All of this information is shown on a high-res display for your optimal convenience.

Het instellen is een geheel geharrewar, maar als het ook eenmaal goed staat ingesteld, elk detail is hoorbaar.
ik gebruik deze ter aanvulling op mijn RME UCX voor de uitbreiding van twee extra audiokanalen voor mijn Hauptwerk. alles kan je ook nog afregelen via de totalmix van de UCX. dus eindeloos.
Ik ben er zeer maar dan ook zeer tevreden mee, de opvolger is dan nu de FS, ik vind al die leuke leds wel interessant, vooral die spectrumanalyse.
ik heb de adi pro ingebouwd, in het orgel boven de rme ucx, maar dit apparaat wordt gloeiend heet op het front, dus ik heb binnen in de ruimte een koelventilator ingebouwd, om de warmte af te voeren, nu dat scheelde een stuk, anders was ik bang dat hij spontaan zou smelten haha.
hij blijft nu tenminste lekker koel.
Voor de echte audiofiel, is dit toch wel het vlaggenschip onder de rme adi pro net zo goed als de rme adi pro fs .

Kon het niet laten om wat metingen te doen met een AP2700 en heb vast gesteld dat de spec's keurig worden gehaald. AKM 5574EN in combinatie met 2x AK 4490EQ zorgen voor de AD/AD conversie, samplerate conversie is netjes in hardware uitgevoerd met een AK4127VF. Een TI TMS320 DSP(tje) en natuurlijk de in een Spartan 6 uitgevoerde Steady Clock van RME.
Gezien de prijsstelling kan ik prima leven met de gebruiksinterface het enige wat ik jammer vind is dat er geen WordClock in & Uitgang voorzien is. In tegenstelling tot wat Bruno G hier zegt vind ik de unit juist erg warm worden, wat de elektrolytische condensatoren op termijn echt niet fijn vinden en de performance zal hierdoor op langere termijn nadelig worden beïnvloed. Kan een andere uitvoering zijn maar ik denk dat dit een voorvloeisel is uit de prijsstelling. Meer oppervlak is betere convectie koeling en ach dit houd de onderhoudstechnici weer aan het werk...
Voor de pro's, wil je meer kijk dan eens naar Prism Sound of Metric Halo al halen de twee kanaals converters die bizar hoge sample rate niet

waarvan ik het best met de geïntegreerde amp kan genieten,
want als ik een top-hoofdtelefoonversterker van meer dan 2000 aansluit (met Oehlbach pro XLR kabels), dan worden details en zuiverheid hoorbaar minder.
+++ ongelofelijk veel instelling-mogelijkheden
- maar lastig om met de draai- en druk-knoppen te browsen.
+++ erg klein, past ideaal op bureau
++ wordt niet te heet
-- verlichting bij de schakel-knop en de sterkte-knop kan niet uitgezet nog gedimd worden
(die van de menu kan wel gedimd en geïnverteerd worden)
++ prachtig lang (wel gecompliceerd) handleiding, in het kleur en op glossy-papier
(zo'n contrast met wat je krijgt van bedrijven zoals Chord of iFi).
