The average singer-songwriter really has no use for the RME ADI-2 Pro EX AD/DA converter. But, if you are a high-end studio, possibly even a mastering studio, then it is immediately a completely different story. That's where it happens that you want to convert from analogue to digital, and vice versa, in a stand-alone device. That's the idea of this RME. And then you really need a couple of things: a very high sample rate, and a very good clock generator. The former is all right, with a cosy 768 KHz, and that clocking is good too, thanks to the 'reference class' SteadyClock FS. When you add up all the possibilities, the ADI-2 Pro Ex is currently one of the most flexible converters available!
