If the pure acoustic tone of your electro-acoustic guitar doesn't sound as natural as it should when it's amplified, you need the BOSS AD-2 Acoustic Preamp. It uses BOSS's advanced sound engine to give you studio-quality results and has a balanced DI output with a TRS jack so that you can connect the pedal directly to a mixer.

AD-2: controls

The AD-2 is simple to operate by means of three knobs that allow you to control the settings. The Acoustic Resonance knob reproduces the complex sound of your acoustic tone while the Ambience knob gives you top-quality reverb effects. The Notch control helps to eliminate any problems with feedback. There's also a handy mute function for when you need to tune up or switch your instrument. If you perform regularly using your electro-acoustic guitar, the BOSS AD-2 ensures you'll always have a great acoustic sound.

Ik ben lange tijd op zoek geweest naar een manier om het versterkte geluid van mijn akoestische gitaren (Taylor's met ES2) te verbeteren voor gebruik op het podium. Pogingen gedaan met eq, Impuls Response loader (IR's). Echter steeds met onvoldoende resultaat. Na het lezen en bekijken van allerlei reviews en YouTube filmpjes over een oplossing voor het probleem van versterking van akoestische gitaren heb ik de Boss AD-2 besteld. Ik kan zeggen dat ik behoorlijk onder de indruk ben van het effect van dit pedaal in combinatie met het ES2 systeem van mijn Taylor gitaren. Het verbetert de natuurlijke warmte in het geluid, de 'houtklank' komt veel meer naar boven met de Ambience en Acoustic Resonance knoppen rond 12 uur. De AD-2 is niet echt een preamp, want gain en volume instellingen ontbreken. Het is beter te omschrijven als een uitstekende sound shaper. Goed en snel geleverd door Bax, ik ben tevreden!

Cette pédale est simple d'utilisation. On comprend très vite comment elle fonctionne et la notice est simplissime. Par contre, les réglages sont subtiles. Rien d'extravagant mais beaucoup de finesse. Le bouton d'ambiance équivaut à la réverbe, mais elle n'est pas si perceptible que ça (même le bouton à fond, c'est assez light comme effet), de même pour le bouton de raisonnance qui simule la taille de la caisse, rien dirréel (à fond, j'ai l'impression de jouer sur ma dreadnought alors que je suis sur une ovation). Rien de très démonstratif au premier abord, mais quand on joue, on entend la différence. Ce que j'aime, c'est qu'on oublie le son en carton du piezzo (même si c'est un bon piezzo). On retrouve le son de l'acoustique (même si ce n'est pas le son de la table d'harmonie, c'est très bien imité, et on a du mal à croire que c'est le son du piezzo qui est modifié). Là, je peux davantage jouer sur l'expression, jouer les notes plus ou moins fort et plus ou moins vite pour faire ressortir certains passages, ce qui est très difficile à faire avec la sonorisation plate que j'avais avant. C'est possible, mais c'est beaucoup moins beau. J'aime la sensibilité retrouvée, le relief, la profondeur, la chaleur et la rondeur du son et les possibilités qui sont offertes par cette AD-2. Finalement, un bon investissement car je peux enfin tirer le meilleur de ma guitare.

Heb deze pedaal nu een week in mijn bezit.
Vooreerst, goeie en snelle levering door Bax.

Nu het pedaal zelf, zoals je van Boss kan verwachten, stevige solide bouw, eens een gitaar aangesloten en wat spelen met de regelaars kan je echt wel je sound verbeteren.
De ambience geeft je een lichte reverb, zeer subtiel. Echter, met de acoustic resonance is het toch opletten geblazen. Eens je die wat te ver open zet, is het geluid niet goed meer.

Het enige spijtige aan deze pedaal is, dat je ambience niet mee gaat naar naar de balanced out, waardoor deze, in mijn ogen, niet echt bruikbaar is.
