These are fantastic speakers. They have a lovely flat response with tight, punchy bass and detailed mids and highs. I’ve had issues before with cheaper monitors fatiguing my ears and being overly bright; I can listen to these without such frequencies becoming a problem.
The 3-way design makes it really easy to pick out where instruments sit in the mix, as the stereo imaging is very accurate. I don’t think I can go back to 2-way monitors now!
I also really like the EQ settings on the back, as it offers a decent amount of boundary adjustment for my monitors, which sit in an untreated room up against the wall.
These aren’t 3-4K/pair studio monitors, but they’re exceptional for £500 and certainly worth getting.

Na zelf vele reviews op YT bekeken te hebben en toch veel positieve reacties op zowel de IN-8 als de IN-5 heb ik besloten om de kleinste uit de reeks aan te schaffen. Ook omdat ik in een kleine kamer van 3,5 op 3 meter zit.
Eerst bepaald hoe ik ze zou plaatsen en gekozen voor wandbevestiging met muurbeugels.
De dip-switches aan de achterzijde zijn na een het raadplegen van de pictogrammen (eveneens op de achterzijde) in een mum van tijd ingesteld.
Het stereobeeld is verbluffend te noemen en vooral met meerdere synthesizers tegelijk kan je precies horen EN plaatsen waar het geluid vandaan komt.
Met Ableton Live werken was al sowiso leuk maar nu is het echt een plezier.
De medewerkers van Kali Audio hebben zich duidelijk niet ingehouden qua kwaliteit!
Enige persoonlijke opmerking van mijn kant, maar dan ook ECHT persoonlijk, ik mis een beetje een diepere bass.
Niet de frequentierespons maar met name het volume.
Dit komt waarschijnlijk doordat ik vroeger altijd naar Clubs ben geweest zoals Cherry Moon, Zillion, Highstreet, en nog zovele anderen. Een actieve/pasieve subwoofer onder mijn desk zorgt hier voor een heel goede oplossing.
Qua hoog- en middengebied zit het zeker wel goed.
De vrienden die ondertussen de IN-5's gezien en gehoord hebben meerdere keren "wauw" gezegd vooraleer ze terug vertrokken waren.
Voor een kleine tot middelgrote kamer is buiten een subwoofer (naar mijn mening) eigenlijk nog maar één ding vereist, een goede muziekant.
De prijs/kwaliteit verhouding is voor mij de reden om voor dit produkt te kiezen. Het is een zeer kompakte 3-weg voor een zeer scherpe prijs.

Het vermogen is wel behoorlijk de volumeknop op de achterkant staat precies op de helft en dat is al genoeg.
Hoe de monitoren het op de lange duur doen kan uiteraard nu nog niet vermeld worden.

Heb een testmix gemaakt van een ouder nummer en terug geluisterd in de auto en op de (erg goede) HiFi installatie van een vriend.. klonk eigenlijk bijna gelijk goed. Verder zal ik vanwege de reflectie in de ruimte toch nog iets extra moeten doen na aanpassing van de instellingen op de achterzijde. Prima prijs kwaliteit verhouding, afwerking ook prima, geen storende eigen ruis en de monitors zijn geisoleerd, dus opstelling naast pc/beeldscherm en overige randapperatuur is ook geen probleem.
