Well made pedal as I've come to expect from Laney, would certainly trust this in a professional gig. The tone is transparent and the controls fairly easy to grasp - not too many or too few that it takes ages to dial in a setting you like. With my fairly noisy single coil j-bass, I found at low to moderate settings, there is no noise. Some noise is introduced when turning the 'Comp' level up very high or the 'Wet - Mix - Dry' all the way to the wet side when the 'Comp' setting is fairly high. I believe this is just amplifying noise already present in the signal and very normal for a compressor - so nothing to be concerned about here. Given, my noisy bass, I was able to get great studio and live tones to suit the varied modern covers I play. The presence control is a really handy feature that I'm currently using to help give the bass a little sparkle and edge in a mix - or reduce attention on the high end when using round wounds.
