The Blackstar Artist 15 is a two-channel, 15-watt tube amplifier combo with two 6L6 tubes, a 12-inch speaker and built-in reverb. Anyone looking for a versatile amplifier that can deliver an American sound with lots of headroom should consider this model. 6L6 tubes are known for their sparkling cleans with tight bass and well-defined mids. Channel 1 can best be described as a classic master volume amplifier. Just the volume control and your attack determines whether the sound remains clean or whether a mild drive is produced. Channel 2 offers more extensive controls with knobs for gain, volume, bass, mid and treble. Channel 2 also features Blackstar's own ISF circuit that offers an extra dimension to your sound.
Infinite Shape Feature
For real tube enthusiasts, amp modelling is just not the same thing as a real tube amp. Before Blackstar's arrival on the scene, they just had to make do with one type of amp or purchase several different ones. With Blackstar's unique ISF circuit, however, there is now a true viable alternative. The circuit lets you change the amps character from American to British and everything in between. This isn't just done by adjusting the tone control. A separate ISF knob allows you to adjust the sound between American and British. It's not just the sound that's adjusted though, but also the way the amp reacts. And because it's controlled by a knob you can decide on the ideal mix yourself. The ISF circuit basically gives you two tube amplifiers for the price of one!
Two classic tube sounds in 1 combo
As already mentioned, the Artist 15 virtually gives you two classic amp sounds in one. Channel 1 gives you that pure, unadulterated American tube sound without the need for extensive tone controls. Channel 2 reacts and sounds just like the well-known British AC amplifiers with sparkling highs, an emphasis on the low mids and a somewhat woolly response. The difference between Blackstar and its competitors is that all of this is fully analogue. They don't rely on modelling or other digital technologies. With a power output of 15 watts delivered by the 6L6 tubes, the Artist 15 is more suitable for small gigs or studio work. For ease of use in the studio it features an emulated speaker out. It also has an FX-loop and comes complete with a foot switch.

Ses points forts :
- parmi tous les amplis que j'ai joués, celui-ci respecte le caractère de n'importe quelle guitare
- il va très fort, son canal clean à un super headroom et la fonction isf est redoutable de polyvalence
- impossible de lui faire sortir un mauvais son quel que soit le réglage
- la reverb est basique, discrète mais de très bonne qualité
- boucle d'effets, sortie ligne
- prend très bien les pédales
- j'ai possédé les deux versions du princeton reverb que je trouvais soit trop brillante pour la 65, soit trop bassy pour le 68, celui-ci est le bon compromis (sans le tremolo et la reverb)
- respire la qualité
- le cab est en vrai bois
- pas de bruit de fond, tout au plus un très léger souffle une fois un jack branché
Ses points faibles
- le canal 2 ne tord pas énormément contrairement à ce qu'on peut attendre de la marque, nécessite donc des pédales pour les gratteux les plus extrêmes
- rapport poids/puissance un peu limite, donc assez lourd
En conclusion, un ampli au rapport Q/P imbattable me concernant, je suis ravi :-)

De headroom is meer dan voldoende, het crunch kanaal gaat tot een milde overdrive.
Alles aan de versterker is zeer solide uitgevoerd. De knoppen ' schalen' uitstekend.
En door de zeer goed werkende master volume kun je van slaapkamer tot op het podium deze versterker gebruiken.
Ik heb lang gezocht naar een goed clean canvas om de juiste tone mee te creëren door gebruik te maken van pedalen en deze versterker is daar absoluut in geslaagd!

One of their greatest assets is the Infinite Shape Feature or ISF circuit (as it's otherwise known) that they developed themselves. With the ISF circuit, Blackstar managed to greatly increase the versatility of tube amplifiers without the use of digital technology. The new Artist 15 and Artist 30 models both have an ISF circuit fitted and can produce the typical American 6L6 sound, as well as beloved British AC clean and crunch.
