General

Pioneer's DJM-350 has been the standard in the world of DJs for some time now. The brand has finally taken this model and enhanced it with more functionality to meet the demands of the modern-day DJ. The DJM-450 is still a very compact 2-channel DJ mixer, but with built-in effects modules and the possibility to connect it to a laptop thanks to the integrated USB audio interface.

The DJM-450: Dual-channel personality

Even though the DJM-450 is compact in size, it's enormous when it comes to functionality. The 2-channel mixer section has a trim, a 3-band EQ and comprehensive LED VU meters per channel as well as for the master. It's even equipped with a Clip LED. The compact volume faders per channel and the Magvel crossfaders contribute to smooth mixes, and allow you to adjust the curves or even invert the track completely. In a flash, you can filter out high or low frequencies in each channel with the Sound Color FX function .

Effects and connections

The DJM-450 is teeming with connection options. Microphones, a laptop, turntables and media players can all be directly hooked up to the mixer via all kinds of gold-plated connections. As far as outputs are concerned, Pioneer has chosen for balanced XLR connectors for speaker sets. The various effects on the left side of the mixer have been borrowed from fully-fledged DJ mixers and can be implemented directly. On the right, there's an even larger effects section and the option to adjust the BPM of the track using a tap function. You can also add effects per crossfader, per channel, or even via the mic of aux input.
