Zo lang gezocht naar de analoge versie maar de prijs is me gewoon te duur. Eindelijk heeft Roland voor de liefhebbers deze schitterende 808 drumcomputer opnieuw uitgebracht maar in een kleinere vorm. Ik vind dit echt zo goed gedaan en blij dat ik deze in mijn studio heb toegevoegd heel erg blij mee!

Endelijk na jaren hebt ik mijn mini 808 feestelijk onthaald met drank en dames, ik moet wel zeggen dat het echt mini is, maar de sound ochhh (natte onderbroek), het is simpel te programeren het werkt volgens mij op batterijen dus koop die ergens bij een supermarkt, en ohja ook handig te bestellen een mini jack to jack kabeltje.

Tot mijn verbazing heeft deze TR-08 ook een ingebouwde speakertje

Wat een heerlijk geluid! Deze digitale (ACB) versie van de bekende TR-808 doet oude tijden herleven. Er zijn behoorlijk veel (soms analoge) drummachines verkrijgbaar (zoals de Arturia Drumbrute), toch vind ik de TR-08 qua functionaliteit en geluid een echte aanrader. De TR-08 heeft dezelfde uitstraling (hetzij in het klein) van de oude TR-808. Binnenkort komt Beringher waarschijnlijk met hun versie van de TR-808. Toch wilde ik niet op wachten op deze DR-808.

De TR-08 doet wat de TR-808 doet plus nog meer! De TR-08 is stereo (je kan dus er voor kiezen om bepaalde onderdelen meer links of rechts te plaatsen), waardoor je drumpatroon levendiger wordt. Tevens kun je nu ook sub-steps plaatsen, waardoor je snelle roffels tussen de steps kunt plaatsen. Daarnaast kan je de toonhoogte van elk onderdeel (al dan niet met hardware knoppen) aanpassen. Meerdere drumpartijen zijn eenvoudig aan elkaar te rijgen met intro's en fill-ins die je volledig naar je hand kan zetten. Ik heb nog niet alle functies kunnen testen, maar na een paar minuten was het me (aan de hand van de beknopte handleiding) vrij snel gelukt om een goed klinkend drumpatroon te creëren.

De TR-08 is de Boutique waarvan ik al lang hoopte dat deze uit zal komen. Op 8 augustus 2017 werden de TR-08 en de SH-01a gepresenteerd door Roland.
Na lang wachten heb ik 'm sinds twee weken via Bax in bezit en hij is fantastisch. Ik gebruik de TR-08 samen met 7 andere Boutiques in m'n set-up waarin Cubase Pro 9 de basis is. De units zijn dusdanig aangesloten dat zowel MIDI als audio via USB poort lopen. Geen gedoe met MIDI- en audiokabels, het werkt allemaal prima met elkaar.
Via USB heb je de beschikking over 12 outputs in je DAW; 1 stereo MAIN OUTPUT en 10 mono outputs voor de individuele drumsounds. Op deze manier heb je totale controle over je rhythm sporen. De sound is vet. er zijn zelfs mogelijkheden de decay van de BD verder op te rekken wat zeer diepe lage bassen oplevert. De knoppen sturen allen MIDI informatie naar je DAW waardoor er veel edit mogelijkheden zijn.
Voor de rest werkt de TR-08 exact hetzelfde als z'n illustere voorganger, de TR-808.
Met behulp van de trigger out kan je oa sequences van, bijvoorbeeld, de SH-01a en de TB-03 triggeren hetgeen verbluffende resultaten teweeg brengt. Een functie die overigens ook met de TR-09 uitgevoerd kan worden. Ook de intro/fill-in optie zorgt voor levendigheid in je drumtracks.
De TR-08 is echt een must have voor je set-up!
