General

Amplifying drums requires special microphones, like the ones in this CDMK8 set by Avantone. This set consists of no fewer than 8 microphones that all have their own application. One kick microphone, one snare microphone, three tom microphones, and three condenser overheads (of which one can be used for the hi-hat) are all provided! Each microphone comes with its own shock mount, and the tom and snare microphones also come with a fastening clip so that you can attach the mics to the rim of the drum. These quality units make amplifying a drum kit super easy!

Avantone CDMK8: optimal drum sound

The reason why special drum microphones are used, is that these usually have a fairly rough life. They need to have an excellent transient response to cope with the first attack of the drum, which requires light materials, but durability is also important! Avantone have succeeded in giving the microphones in the CDMK8 set a fast response, as well as a rugged construction - so that they can take high volumes as well as a few knocks. Loud-playing drummers are no threat to these babies!

Multifunctional

Microphones from this drum set by Avantone aren't just usable for drums, they are highly versatile and can also be used for other instruments. The Mondo kick microphone can also be used for floor toms, or even tubas, trombones and bass amps! The ADM snare microphone is suited for guitar amps and percussion, for instance. In short: options a-plenty! The microphones are highly compact, so that they don't stand out on stage.
