General
The Avantone CDMK-4 set is designed specifically for the amplification of drums. This set consists of four microphones: one for the kick drum, one for the snare, and two tom microphones. Each microphone is specifically designed for its particular task. The Mondo kick microphone has a so-called smiley curve, which ensures that the sound of the kick drum is optimally reproduced. The ADM snare microphone has a dip in the low frequencies to stop the kick from bleeding, and added top high frequencies for the snare sound. This set comes with fastening clips and a stylish storage case.
Avantone CDMK4: overview
The reason why special drum microphones are used, is that these usually have a fairly rough life. Drums and drum kits produce an enormous sound pressure at a short distance, and microphones need to be able to handle these tides of dBs! Also, the transient response needs to be optimal to give a good reproduction of the attack of the drums. These Avantone microphones are ideal for such aims. There's no plastic in the mic, so when a drummer accidentally hits it, it won't break instantly.
Multifunctional
Microphones from this drum set by Avantone aren't just usable for drums, they are highly versatile and can also be used for other instruments. The Mondo kick microphone can also be used for floor toms, or even tubas, trombones and bass amps! The ADM snare microphone is suited for guitar amps and percussion, for instance. In short: options a-plenty! The microphones are highly compact, so that they don't stand out on stage.
