AKG D5 C dynamic vocal microphone

General

The AKG D5 C is a dynamic microphone that's excellently suited for professional vocal applications. It features a Varimotion diaphragm for a powerful, accurate, transparent sound without feedback. Thanks to its cardioid pickup pattern, the microphone mainly captures audio from the front, and very little from the sides and back. An internal pop filter reduces ambient noise that's caused by wind and plosives, while a powerful steel grille protects the capsule during demanding live gigs.

D5 C: Varimotion

AKG's Varimotion technology is applied to headphones as well as microphones. Varimotion diaphragms are thick in the middle, while their gauge tapers off to the sides. To achieve this, two materials have been layered - one is a light material, while the other has a higher density. The relatively thin edges allow for a more extensive range in the lower frequencies, while the thicker middle allows for a higher SPL. A high-output Neodymium magnet is responsible for the low noise and the extensive dynamic range.
