Electro Voice PL 80A dynamic vocal microphone

The design of the PL 80a was inspired by the BK-1, which was one of the first condenser microphones suitable for stage use, and was quite legendary in the '80s and '90s. The PL 80a is a dynamic microphone with a super-cardioid polar pattern, and it was designed to provide excellent amplification of the human voice in live situations. Because of its directional sensitivity, it is well-protected against feedback and other sound sources in the microphone's vicinity. This makes a higher gain possible before it starts to feedback, and it makes it easier to make a good stage mix.

EQ-friendly

The sonic character of this PL 80a can certainly be called EQ-friendly, as the vocal frequency range is well-represented without overdriving. This means that you rarely have to use tone control with this microphone, and it will mix well without being too blatant. The capsule of this Electro Voice microphone is mounted in an internal shock mount to avoid handling noise. It also features a foam pop screen and a sturdy metal grille for extra overall protection.
