The strings in this Sadowsky Blue Label Guitar String Stainless Steel Flatwound 11-50 set have medium heavy thicknesses from .011 to .050 inches. The stainless steel windings are not twisted in the traditional roundwound manner, but rather flatwound, i.e. flatter. This technique results in a very smooth surface that makes the strings feel very soft and also produces less side noise when you move your fingers over them. The strings have a nice, clear sound, with lots of highs but slightly less sustain and overtones than roundwound strings. This makes them less suitable for playing with distortion or overdrive, so not ideal for rock guitarists and fans of the heavier stuff. This is, however, the perfect set for softer styles such as jazz, pop and funk.
