General

Designed in Earl Slick's New York studio, the Slick Guitars SL59 exudes craftsmanship in every fibre. The body is made of solid swamp ash, the neck of Canadian Hard Rock maple and the fingerboard of Indian rosewood. This combination delivers a full, resonant sound that responds instantly to your playing. The finish is deliberately kept minimal: the wood is stained, coated with one thin layer of old-school automotive lacquer and then lightly sanded back. This keeps the structure tangible and allows the wood to vibrate freely, creating a lively and open sound.

SL59: pure playing experience

The hardware has been carefully chosen to enhance both sound and playing comfort. The wraparound bridge and volume knob are milled from solid brass and remain untreated for pure transmission of vibrations. The tuners are a proprietary design, with bronze gears and brass knobs, making tuning smooth and stable. A graphite nut and a slightly tilted headstock ensure the correct string angle without additional guides, further improving tuning retention. The neck has a 24.75 scale, a 12-inch radius and 22 medium jumbo frets carefully finished for comfortable playability.

Nice bite

At the heart of the SL59 is the hand-aged 'Slick Junior' Alnico V pickup. With 9.6K output, a German Silver baseplate and vintage-correct materials, this element delivers a raw, lived-in tone with just the right amount of bite. The ageing is not only cosmetic, but also magnetic, making the element sound like it has been making music for decades. Combined with the breathable finish and wood choices, it creates an instrument that inspires not only playing, but also experimenting to find your own sound.
